Data and purposes
You choose post URLs, source text, screenshots, notes, tags and collections to save. The app uses post IDs, author usernames, permalinks and timestamps when returned by the API to identify and organize the selected post. Connection processing uses an app-scoped Threads user ID, access credentials, session identifiers and expiry times. It does not request your Threads password.
Where processing takes place
Summaries run on the device using available Apple AI, an optional local model, or extractive text selection. The connection server relays requested post data and stores encrypted connection credentials. Optional iCloud sync sends your library to your private iCloud database. Post response data passes through the connection server in OAuth mode but is not stored as a post archive in its application database. This version has no feature for training AI models on your posts, selling post data or behavioral advertising.
Services involved
Threads authorization and API access are provided by Meta. Optional private sync uses Apple iCloud. The connection server is hosted by DigitalOcean in Singapore (SGP1). A separately selected model download contacts the hosting URL chosen for that model. Your email provider processes messages you send to support.
Retention
Local reading data stays until you delete it. Server sessions inactive for 90 days and unconnected sessions older than one hour are removed by periodic cleanup, normally within the next hour. Authorization state expires after 10 minutes and is cleaned up periodically. Support correspondence is retained for 30 days; server backup retention is 7 days (0 means backups are disabled).
Your choices
Use Settings to disconnect Threads, delete an individual post, or delete your data. Disconnecting alone keeps saved posts. iCloud deletion is optional in enabled builds and requires network access. Updated devices must sync to receive deletion. Content-free record IDs and deletion timestamps remain to prevent stale copies from reappearing. Preferences and downloaded model weights are retained. Copies you exported or shared must be deleted separately.
